This afternoon at about 1:00pm I headed over to my mentor Ryan's house. There I watched him work on a board called a fish. He talked me through how to make the rails of the board and also how to use some of the tools. Later, we stopped working on the fish and pulled out my blank for my surfboard and he helped me get to work. He showed me how to measure the blank and use the templet to trace out my board. Then step by step he walked me through the process all the way up to shaping the rails of my board. The best part about shaping my board today though was when Ryan showed me how to use the plainer machine. I've never been covered by so much foam in my life!
Here are some pictures from my experience today! (The first one is me using the plainer)
