3. (Need to know) What questions were raised because of the 10 hours of experience?  List them.

Some of the questions that develop throughout my mentorship include:

What is the difference between a thruster fin setup and a single fin set up?

Does concave underneath the board really make a difference in the surfboards performance in the water?

Are the angle in which you put your fins in the surfboard that important?

4. What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?

The most important thing that I gained from this experience was finding out how much all the materials cost to make a surfboard. At first when you look at the prices for each of the materials separately they seem to be really reasonable. But unfortunately everything starts to add up since there are so many components that are involved in making a surfboard. Also making just one surfboard takes allot of time. I estimated that just to make one board takes roughly between 10 to 15 hours to shape. Then you also have to wait at least a week or two for the glass on the board to cure. This helped me to realize that to be involved in this industry means that a lot of time and a lot of money is need to make it in this type of industry.

5. How did what you did help you choose a topic?  Please explain.

Going Surfing with my Mentor Ryan and helping him shape both me and my dads boards really helped me in my decision for my project topic. When I would go surfing with Ryan we would talk about what me and my dad were looking to get out of our new boards. So I would explain to him me and my dads problems that we were having with our current boards and then he would tell me how certain shapes, angles, and curves on a board can help to compensate or eliminate the problems that we felt we were having. After having multiple discussions like this I realized that for my topic I would like to discuss how all of the different combinations of shapes angles and curves of a board are designed to help surfers surf in certain types of wave condidtions.
